Baska area in the southeast of the island is a unique combination of mountains and sea. Baska is identified by one of the largest and most beautiful sandy beaches on the Adriatic, characteristic architecture, numerous cultural and historical monuments and the surrounding excursion paths. Baska offers high level of accommodation facilities, from hotels, campsites and private accommodation. Here was created Baska flagstone in about 1100. as the birth certificate of Croats. It can be seen in the Church of St. Lucy in Jurandvor (2 km from Baska). This is the most important monument of Croatian language and literature written in the Croatian script - Glagolitic.
