Crikvenica is situated in the Kvarner bay of the Adriatic Sea, 33 km from Rijeka. The whole city is in fact a riviera with a series of connected small tourist resorts.
Its name was given after the church (crikva) of Pauline monastery at the river mouth Dubracine. Crikvenica is an important tourist center and a place with an old tradition more than a hundred years thanks to the extremely favorable climate, clean air free of harmful allergens, smog and industrial dust. Crikvenica is one of the few destinations where there are plenty of opportunities for entertainment where the premises on the crowded waterfront are open until late at night.
