Punat is located on the east coast of more than 3 km long, and almost 2 km wide Punat Bay. Traces of habitation date back to prehistory, and the people throughout history beside the traditional primary occupations were engaged in shipbuilding. Today Punat is one of the greatest Croatian nautical centers which marina carries the Blue Flag and it is olive center of Krk. Punat is inevitably linked to the islet Košljun where "barkajoli" can take you in 10 minutes. There is a Franciscan monastery on the islet which saved many values, and forest nature reserve.
