Lastovo is the capital and the largest town on the island. It was built on the present position of the inner part of the island around 1000 years ago. It is located on the northeast side of the island, along the northern edge of the Lastovo fields. The inhabitants are traditionally engaged in agriculture, fishing and more recently in tourism. During the summer Lastovo becomes a place of music where the traditional summer festival is held. Lastovo is connected with Ubli by the road.
