Split is a city and a port in the central Dalmatia, its metropolis and industrial, universital, economic and admministrative centre. You can reach it by taking the highway Zagreb-Split, or an aeroplane or a ship. Split has the Mediterranean climate: hot dry summers and mild and humid winters. Split is one of the sunniest places in Europe. Vegetation is of the evergreen Mediterranean type, and subtropical flora (palm-trees, agaves, cacti) grows in the city and its surroundings

The cultural and entertainment offer of Split is extremely rich, particularly in the summer, when the city squares, yards and other areas turn into a large open-air stage. The Split Summer, a traditional festival in the middle of the summer season, includes dramas, operas and concerts (from mid-July to mid-August). The Day of St. Doimus (Duje), who is the patron saint of the city, is commemorated on the 7th of May

You choose Split because of its smell of the palace stone, its smell of broom and sea, or to experience the rich cultural life of the city and recently because of the great tourist offer. After you choose your accomodation in one of Split's or surrounding hotels, or in the appartments of the private houses you can make yourself believe in the truth of the stories which you have read or heard that Split is the city-monument, full of diverse beauties.

Another city on this rich and beautiful litoral is Solin, in the fond of the Kastela bay, 5 km northeast of Split. Its urbanistic structure touches and confuses itself with the quarters of Split. When looking it today from the aspect of its roads structure, industrial complex and vast agglomeration it is difficult to immagine that in the classical period on this territories existed a great roman city, Salona, the Illyric centre, and after the administrative roman centre for Dalmatia.

The classical and cristian architecture meets hapilly the modern and popular architecture of today. Solin enlarges and changes, but preserves its identity of an important archeological and historical location.

Vranjic is a pitoresque place situated on an island, that is along the coast to the south from the mouth of the Jadro river, between these two historical cities, Split and Solin.

In the past it was the island of the Salonitanian port which explains why many remains of the roman past could be found there. This very romantic place as far as we look the ambient, today is totally infused into the industrial complex of the Split's North port. Nevertheless it was called „Little Venice“ in the past because of its astonishing beauty.

Stobrec is a part of Split metropolitan area and 7 km far Diocletian's Palaca is within easy reach as well. A large number of restaurants display a varied choice of the traditional Dalmatian cuisine and beverages. Water-oriented activities in summer and the beaches to everyone's liking guarantee a memorable pastime. The cultural scene offers a bouquet of enteraining chices from fols festivals perfomances.

The large sand beach, numerous sunbathing plateaux, the clear sea and the quality of domestic food make Stobrec a pleasant summer resort. Entertainment can be found in nearby Split with its rich offer of cultural, sports and other events.

Podstrana is a small tourist place of the Mediterranean ambience and abundant vegetation, situated 8 km south from Split, the centre of Central Dalmatia, developing into it's elite suburb. Podstrana is embellished by dense vegetation and the natural gift of the clean sea and it is an excellent choice for the escape from the everyday life.
