Valun lies on the central west coast of the island of Cres, slightly north of Lubenice, in the southern part of Valun gulf, between two beautiful sandy beaches. It was founded as a port of the old village Bucev which remains were found near the church of St. Marc. Today it is a picturesque seaside town situated around a small port-oriented to camping and family holidays. Beside St.. Mark's church and Valun panel from the 11th century, it is interesting to see Glagolitic stone monuments located on the terrace of a restaurant that shows copies of the oldest Glagolitic inscription from Istria, Kvarner and Dalmatia.
